Services
|
| |
|
| The
H.A.R.T. Center provides several training options for participants: |
| |
|
|
VOCATIONAL EVALUATION
|
|
This is a
twenty day period where consumers work on a variety of job assignments.
This allows each participant to start to learn new job skills
and identify their vocational strengths. Some vocational testing
and interest surveys are also completed. At the end of twenty
days, a meeting is held where the results of any testing, work
observations, and pay rates are discussed. Recommendations are
made for further training if appropriate. At this time, the individual
can decide to continue with programming and make plans for the
future.

| |
|
|
PERSONAL WORK ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM
|
|
This is a
four month period of time where the consumer continues in programming
at H.A.R.T., earns a pay check and work on objectives that will
increase the skills necessary to be successful vocationally. These
objectives may include honing skills such as learning new jobs,
getting to work on time, increasing self-confidence and improving
stamina. Each individual works on objectives with a Program Specialist
who supports him/her in reaching goals. Production Supervisors
also work closely on the work floor with individuals helping them
to learn the skills necessary to complete a job assignment. Each
month a meeting is held with the consumer to evaluate progress
and make plans for the future.

|
|
|
EXTENDED WORK TRAINING |
|
If an individual
feels that he/she needs more work training, he/she may choose
to remain at the H.A.R.T. Center. The individual will work on
new objectives and continue to earn a weekly paycheck. There will
be a review of progress on a quarterly basis.
Choice and
determination are very important for each person at the the H.A.R.T.
Center. Therefore, there is no set time for discharge from H.A.R.T.
Center, nor is there any set number of objectives to reach. Each
participant develops a very personal plan of action. An individual
may choose to stay at the H.A.R.T. Center or may choose to pursue
competitive employment.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT |
|
These services
are for those individuals who feel ready to obtain a job in the
community. An Employment Specialist is available for any of the
supports needed for employment. The Specialist can assist the
individual in job applications, will accompany the person to job
interviews and will learn the job first hand. The Employment Specialist
can help the individual learn the new job and assist him/her in
developing their own supports on the job. Once an individual becomes
able to perform the work independently, the Employment Specialist
is available on an as needed basis to insure the individual continues
to be successful.
